Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is one of the most critically acclaimed (and expensive) types of coffee in the world. It is characterised by its light colour and rich flavour which lacks bitterness. There are many factors which make the Blue Mountain region suitable for coffee cultivation including high levels of rainfall, a cool misty atmosphere and very good drainage.
The main type of coffee grown here are the typica and caturra varieties which are grown by a large number of farmers tending to smallholdings of land. The two largest coffee producers are Wallenford Estate and the Moy Hall cooperative.
