The Hungry Lion is one of the most highly acclaimed high-end restaurants in Negril and has been in operation for over 30 years. The menu changes daily, depending on the availability of fresh ingredients and typically features 6 or 7 main courses (focusing on quality rather than the quantity of choices). Dishes are mainly seafood and vegetarian.

Dishes that the Hungry Lion is well known for include stuffed crab backs and pumpkin soup. Homemade desserts and freshly squeezed tropical fruit juice (with or without alcohol) are also very popular.

The Hungry Lion has a laid-back "hipster" vibe. The walls are adorned with local artwork and eclectic music (including jazz, blues, world music and reggae) play in the background. The dining area is spread over 2 levels, including an open-air balcony offering views of the sea and (of course) the sun set. There is also a gallery located in the lower level of the Hungry Lion which is well worth a look.
