The rustic boutique resort of Time 'N' Place offers one of the most atmospheric back-to-basics beach experiences in all of Jamaica. Time 'N' Place is run by Tony Moncrieffe who built the resort with his own hands over 20 years ago and has run the resort ever since. Time 'N' Place attracts many repeat visitors and many guests have commented on the way that Tony treats visitors like old friends rather than hotel guests.
CottagesThe resort has four wooden cottages. These simple cottages have wooden shutters, mosquito nets, fans, private bathrooms and low voltage electricity. What the cottages lack in facilities they more than make up for in character and charm.
BarWhether or not you stay in one of the cottages you are free to visit the bar, which often features in "top bars of the Caribbean" lists. The thatched-roof beach bar is built from drift wood and has several wooden tables, chairs and hammocks set out in the sand. The bar serves local drinks like Red Stripe, rum and fruit juices as well as all of the usual foreign spirits. Tony's favourite cocktail, the Beyond, is a mixture of rum cream, vodka and Tia Maria and comes highly recommended. Board games are available on request or you can just chill out, listen to reggae music and watch the waves lap at the shore.
ActivitiesIf you are staying at Time 'N' Place there are a range of activities to keep you busy when you are not lying on the beach. The nearby mangrove is a great place for bird watching and the offshore reefs can be snorkelled. The waters of Time 'N' Place are also home to the phosphorescence which gives the famous Luminous Lagoon its eerie glow, you can take boat trips out in the evening or before dawn to see this spectacular phenomenon. Kite boarding trips can also be arranged.
Time 'n' Place on the big screenThe quintessential Caribbean atmosphere of Time 'N' Place has captures the eye of several film makers. Much of "How Stella got her Groove Back" and "Passion in Paradise" were filmed here. Time 'N' Place has also been used as the setting for several fashion shoots, including one for Vogue Magazine.
