Irie River

One of the best river-bathing experiences to be had in Jamaica is at Irie River. Irie River is situated on a scenic section of the White River, about 15 minutes upstream from the ocean.

This secluded beauty spot has the atmosphere of a plantation-era bathing hole, Caribbean style. The sandy bottomed river flows gently through the park, allowing for safe swimming, the main section is also dammed up to stop lazing bathers from floating out to sea!

On the grassy banks of the river there are seats, sunbeds and several small sections separated by stone walkways for those looking for more seclusion. Shade is provided by centuries old trees from the mature forest overhanging the river.
