The Gallery of West Indian Art in the Catherine Hall suburb of Montego Bay showcases (and sells) artwork from all over the Caribbean, but particularly Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba. The colourful gallery is packed to the brim with paintings, sculptures, patties, furniture and textiles featuring diverse imagery from Caribbean culture. The gallery features artwork from renowned West Indian artists, including Albert Atwell (Jamaica), Andre Pierre (Haiti) and Orestes Gaulhiac (Cuba).
The gallery was founded in the 1960s by English expat Liz de Lisser, it is now run by one of her daughters, Nicola (Nicky). The gallery has a second outlet in Montego Bay and wholesales throughout the Caribbean, the United States and England. Artwork is also available to purchase online.
