Doctor's Cave Beach is one of the most popular private beaches in Jamaica and provides everything that most tourists to Jamaica are looking for - white sand, turquoise seas, palm trees, modern bathing facilities and a fully licensed bar!
Doctor's Cave Beach is private but the general public can visit for a small fee. There are showers, changing facilities, toilets, a bar and grill (the "Groovy Grouper"), a gift shop, toilets, internet facilities and life guards on duty. Beach chairs, sun loungers, umbrellas, lilos and snorkelling equipment are available to hire. If you're looking for a little more activity then glass bottom boat rides, parasailing and jet ski hire is also available from the beach. The beach also boasts two giant water trampolines.
HistoryDoctor's Cave Beach began life in 1880 as a sanatorium, founded by Doctor James McCatty which was accessible through a cave (this is the origin of the name "Doctor's Cave Beach"). In 1906 Dr. McCatty donated the beach to the Montego Bay community, however, the more exclusive "Doctors Cave Bathing Club" was founded. The club is still running and members enjoy additional facilities at the beach such as a members' lounge, veranda and meeting rooms.
