R Stewart's Art and Crafts specialises in painting and wooden sculptures, made on site by Mr Stewart. R Stewart is a self-taught artist who has been working for 40 years. Mr Stewart was born in the parish of Trelawny and started work as an artist in Montego Bay in the 1960's. 14 Years ago, he moved to Port Antonio, drawn by the beauty of the area as an inspiration for his art.

R Stewart started his artistic career in the field of sculpture but always had a passion for painting. He told me that his first experience of painting was on a trip to his local grocers. He saw a calendar on the wall featuring many beautiful pictures. He asked the grocers if he could borrow the calendar and started learning to paint by copying each of the pictures. Nowadays he specialises in painting, using acrylic and oil paints. R Stewart has a distinctive style of painting and most of his pictures are inspirational, coming straight from his head.

The R. Stewart Art and Craft store also features paintings of scenery in Port Antonio, painted by other local artists.
