Saint Andrew Parish Church - Hagley Park Road, Halfway Tree, Kingston
Tel:- (1 876) 926-6692
The Saint Andrew Parish Church was established in 1664, four years after the British captured Jamaica from the Spanish. At the time of its establishment it was the only Anglican church in the parish so it commanded a very large congregation. Even today, the congregation is over 3,000 members, with around 600 attending Sunday services.
The Saint Andrew Parish Church was occupied several sites before settling in the current Half Way Tree location in 1700. The building has been renovated several times since its construction, most notably in 1907 following a large earthquake which shook Jamaica. Stained glass windows were installed in 1879 and the current organ (the church's fourth) was installed in 1978. In 2003 the St Andrew Parish Church was declared a national monument by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust.
In the church's graveyard you will find the final resting place of many important figures in Jamaica's history.
