Tessanne Chin first appeared on The Voice was on episode 2 (24 September 2013) where she impressed all of the judges with her rendition of Pink's 2012 hit "Try".

All four of the judges hit their "I want you" button and Tessane chose Adam Levine to be her coach. The only other contestant to gain the approval of all four of the judged in this episode was Holly Henry, who sang Coldplay's "The Scientist". The judges made the following comments about her performance:

• Adam Levine - "You can easily win the voice this year, I don't have a doubt in my mind"
• Blake Shelton - "You're so far ahead of the game"
• Christina Aguilera - "You're such a powerhouse and an unbelievably talented vocalist"
